Few names in the world of TV are bigger than Kaley Cuoco right now. The actress has been playing Penny on sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” for over a decade, and it’s earned her more money than she’d ever imagined. Although the show is now coming to an end, the reported million dollars she was making for every episode has set her up for life. She’s been able to afford the home of her dreams thanks to the show, but what exactly are her interior decorating skills like?
Star of the screen
When “The Big Bang Theory” first hit our screens in 2007, we couldn’t have imagined it would become so popular. Averaging 18-20 million viewers at its best, the show has completely changed the lives of its main cast, particularly Kaley Cuoco. Earning something in the region of over $20 million a season, she went from being a rising star to one of the best-paid actresses in the history of television. With that money, she’s been able to buy anything she wants, including several luxury homes in California.
Starter home
Cuoco started out in a home in Sherman Oaks that was worth just shy of $3 million. Purchased in 2010, the property offered a lot for the actress who hadn’t yet reached the dizzying heights of her “The Big Bang Theory” success.
Complete with five bedrooms and bathrooms, the house was the perfect size at the time, although she wasn’t destined to stay there forever. As soon as she tied the knot with tennis player Ryan Sweeting, she was ready to move onto bigger and better things.
So much space
Although she eventually left the property, Cuoco still enjoyed several successful years there. There was a lot to love about the place, including its sizable kitchen. One thing she was definitely never short of in this room was storage space, whether for food or cooking equipment.
There are cupboards and drawers as far as the eye could see, and that refrigerator certainly isn’t miniature. Plus, that island in the center offered plenty of space to serve food and hang out with guests when she had the time to do so.
Nice and cozy
While the kitchen might have been a good space for socializing, the living room was even better. With a great variety of seats to choose from, Cuoco was free to invite as many guests as she wanted.
They had the option to sit and chat or enjoy whatever was on TV, all while appreciating the sophisticated design of the room. The exposed brick and hardwood floors are a winning combination here, especially with their warm tones. They make the room incredibly cozy, and the fireplace tops it all off.
An artistic touch
Most of the walls in Cuoco’s old house might have been bare, but that wasn’t the case everywhere. Up on the landing, the actress had several pieces of artwork, including an abstract painting that we can only assume is meant to be her.
Although we aren’t certain, the resemblance is strong enough that the likeness can’t just be a coincidence. Either way, with all those lights in the ceiling as well as the fixtures hanging over the hallway, Cuoco would have been able to appreciate the painting at any time of day.
Cleaning up good
Every house needs a bathroom, so it’s a good thing the actress’ former home had five of them. The warmth that was present in the downstairs rooms continues up here with its use of brick and tiles.
The varying shades of brown blend well together, though it’s the furniture we’re really interested in. With a shower that big, Cuoco would have had a lot of breathing room when it came to getting clean. She could have easily gotten herself washed and dried without dripping all over the bathroom floor.
Out in the backyard
As per the Californian tradition, the house came fitted with a backyard pool that must have offered a lot of relief in the summer. Cuoco wouldn’t have had to worry about being spotted during her swim, either, thanks to those large hedges on either side.
There’s no way her neighbors would have been able to peek over those without difficulty. The greenery also adds a healthy bit of color to this backyard which is somewhat lacking in grass. The patio’s nice, but it dominates quite a lot of the landscape.
Moving on up
As Cuoco’s fame grew and she fell in love with Sweeting, she realized she’d need a property suitable for both of them. Thankfully, reality star Khloe Kardashian had the perfect place for them.
Following her split from Lamar Odom, Khloe wanted rid of their house fairly quickly, and Cuoco couldn’t help but snap up the seven-bed property. She figured it would make the perfect place for her and Sweeting to start a family, unaware that disaster was going to strike just one year after moving in there.
Getting comfortable
The new property proved to be just as cozy as her last house. With the darker tones and beams in the ceiling making the place incredibly homely, Cuoco found herself getting comfortable there.
The living area ended up being the perfect place for her to spend her evenings with her new husband as they curled up on the sofa. They had all they needed right there, especially with the kitchen coming just off to the side. Despite being a large house, everything felt like it was in exactly the right place.
Extra storage
Speaking of the kitchen, Cuoco still didn’t have to worry about storage space here. Her last place might have been massive, but the new kitchen offered just as many drawers and cupboards for her to choose from.
We’re not quite sure how much space someone like Kaley needs when they spend so much time filming, but at least the option was there. We could see her cooking meals in here when she had the time, though we wouldn’t blame her if she opted for takeout instead.
Dinner party
Whenever Cuoco did have the opportunity to get in the kitchen, this is probably where she and Sweeting ate. With eight stylish seats to choose from, the actress could have easily entertained guests when she felt like it.
There are just enough places to fit all of her “The Big Bang Theory” co-stars, although they would have run into trouble if any of them brought their other halves. Considering the cast sometimes sat on the floor when eating on the show, they probably wouldn’t have minded doing the same here.
Take a seat
Ms. Cuoco will see you now. Isn’t that the vibe this office gives you? We’re not sure when the actress would have used this space, but we love the decor. The chandelier sparkles in the room that’s been beautifully adorned with flowers.
The dark splashes of purple in the curtains, chairs, and cushions are a nice contrast to the lighter tones of the room, giving it a very modern appeal. Also, we appreciate that there’s a bathroom right next door, because it’s always good to have one of those nearby.
Tuning in
You can never have enough rooms in a house to sit and watch TV. There were definitely plenty of televisions to go around in Cuoco’s home, although this is the room that utilizes the appliance to the best of its ability.
Fixed onto the back of a wall-length shelving unit, the big screen TV dominates this cozy little den. Two chaise lounge sit close to the screen, while a sofa is set further back, offering plenty of space for guests wanting to watch the big game or enjoy a movie marathon.
